Meet Erika

What can I say? It’s great to be back!

For those who are new to my site, welcome, it’s lovely to meet you! For those who know me and are stopping by, great to see you again. It’s been a while.

When I headed over to Germany in 2012 I never imagined that one year would turn into ten, and what a decade it’s been. I definitely jumped in at the deep end in Cologne with 2 unforgettable years in the Kölner Opernstudio. Unbelievable colleagues, Fest (and Guest) artists and conductors, the Gürzenich Orchester! What a way to start.

For the best part of the past decade however, I’ve been singing for the theatre in a city I came to call home, Osnabrück. I count myself very lucky indeed to have held my full-time/“Fest” position in the Theater Osnabrück ensemble for as long as I did. It’s rare, to find a stable home in the German theatre system these days and it was here that I really got to tentatively spread my wings and find my feet. You soar on the stage with the orchestra holding you up and you can’t help but be humbled by the collective effort that goes into bringing a show to life. It’s been a wild ride, musicals, operettas, Baroque, Classical and high Romantic operas - every new project another challenge I’ve been proud to tackle head-on.

At some point though, you can no longer ignore the call home, and here I am! With two wonderful German souvenirs, my husband Siggi and our baby boy in tow. We’ve been enjoying our little freshly-minted parental bubble this past year and I feel it’s time to tentatively dip my toe back into the musical wading pool, for the first time on home soil.

I’d love to see what we can do together.
